Vanessa, a dedicated mother of three young children, was doing everything she could to support her family but was quickly running out of options. By the time she arrived at the Hunger Resource Center (HRC) on NVFS’ SERVE Campus, Vanessa had been living in her car, aware it would soon be repossessed. She needed more than basic supplies – she needed hope and stability.

Darrell, an HRC team member, recognized the urgency of Vanessa’s situation. Even before she completed intake, he coordinated with the SERVE team to secure emergency shelter for Vanessa and her children that very night. Support quickly came from NVFS and local community partners, including formula, diapers, and fresh sandwiches generously donated by Giant Food.

With the combined support of NVFS, the HRC, and community contributions, Vanessa and her family soon found stability. Today, they are settled in an apartment, and she receives ongoing monthly support and encouragement from the SERVE and HRC teams. All Vanessa needed was a temporary boost to regain her footing, and now she is on the path to a brighter future for herself and her children.
